Email Header Analyzer
Read the delivery hops and authentication results reported in pasted email headers. Unfold header lines, inspect sender domains and flag inconsistent timestamps.
How to use this tool
- Copy the raw headers using Show original or View source in your mail client.
- Paste headers only, without the message body.
- Review reported authentication and delivery timing in chronological order.
A worked example
Input
Two Received timestamps: 10:00:00 UTC → 10:00:03 UTC
Output
Second hop: 3 seconds since the previous hop
This compares timestamps reported in the supplied headers. It does not independently verify the delivery path.
What the result means
Received entries are shown oldest to newest. Negative delays can reflect inconsistent clocks or supplied timestamps. Authentication lines report what the pasted header says; trust depends on the receiving system.
Header text can be forged. Reported authentication results are not independently verified, DKIM signatures are not validated and private IPs may appear in headers.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find the raw message headers?
Use the original-message or message-source option in your email client, then copy the header section before the blank line separating the body. In Gmail this is available through Show original in the message menu.
Does the analyzer validate a DKIM signature or prove the sender?
No. It parses reported Authentication-Results and delivery headers. Supplied headers can be forged, and DKIM cryptographic validation needs the original signed message and appropriate verification context.
Is this free, and are my inputs uploaded?
Use this tool without an account, subscription or credits. Processing and file exports run in your browser; the tool does not upload your inputs or send emails. Clear inputs to remove the current data. Inputs are not saved when you reload the page.
